ZS-Anthro dikembangkan untuk membantu memudahkan dokter, bidan, ahli gizi, paramedis, peneliti gizi dan orang tua untuk memantau standar pertumbuhan Balita dan anak-anak sampai 19 tahun menurut WHO secara akurat, cepat dan mudah.
Aplikasi ini mengacu pada WHO Child Growth Standards. Rumus yang digunakan adalah metode WHO terbaru yakni metode LMS. WHO Child Growth Standards memiliki kelebihan dibandingkan dengan metode yang lain yaitu bisa digunakan di seluruh negara di dunia. WHO Child Growth Standards mengambil sampel anak dari negara-negara yang representatif mewakili seluruh Negara di dunia. Sedangkan standar pertumbuhan yang lain menggunakan sampel anak dari Negara masing-masing.
Indikator penilaian status gizi pada aplikasi ini sangat lengkap dapat menyajikan seluruh indikator antropometri dalam bentuk persentil dan Z-skor.
