Be Safe

Safety of Woman is one of the prime concerns in nation right now. The crime rates against
women in the country have only risen to a great extent. Women think twice before stepping out of
their homes, especially at the night. This is, unfortunately, the sad reality of our country that lives
in constant fear. As each day passes, the crime rate against women are increasing and resulting in
making our nation insecure for women. In everyday life there are various circumstances under
which a working woman is forced to travel alone after sunset. Here comes the toughest part where
a woman must decide to choose a safest path to travel alone. To overcome this scenario, we
propose on building an android application that can be used by women across the country to
determine a safe route for travel during night or any other time. The idea behind this project is to
build an android application with the map of city incorporated in it. Such that, if any user finds an
area or spot to be suspicious such as the presence of eve teasing activities, etc. The user will be
able to mark the respective spot as unsafe. Once any spot or location is marked as unsafe, then
such locations will be visible as unsafe for other woman users and they can avoid unsafe locations
during their travel. If same location is marked as unsafe by different users’ multiple time, then
details regarding such locations can be send to Government authorities for further investigation.
The idea behind this proposal is not to restrict, the freedom of travelling, to a woman, instead it
focuses on preventing any crime by providing the knowledge of safe and unsafe spots within a
city. The application will also provide features for emergency contacting in case a woman finds
herself in a troubled situation.
