🔸 About the Sheikh 🔸
Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna was born in the village of Shubra Bass, Shebeen El-Kom district, in Menoufia, on this day, December 17, 1926.
Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna memorized the Noble Qur’an in the book Al-Qaria at the hands of Sheikh Musa Al-Muntash when he was eleven years old.
He moved to the city of Tanta to study Sharia sciences at Al-Ahmadi Mosque.
He was chosen as a reciter for the Muslim Youth Association in 1947.
Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna joined the Egyptian Radio in 1948, and his first reading on the air was in December 1948 from Surat Hud.
He was chosen as a reciter at the Ain Al-Hayat Mosque in the late 1940s, then at the Imam Al-Rifai Mosque in the 1950s, and moved to the Al-Ahmadi Mosque in Tanta in 1959, where he remained until 1980, when he recited at the Imam Al-Hussein Mosque until his death.
The late President Gamal Abdel Nasser asked him to record the recited Qur’an for radio and he actually recorded it in 1967, in addition to the recited Qur’ans that he recorded for Saudi and UAE radio stations.
Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna visited many countries of the world, and read the Qur’an in the Two Holy Mosques, the Temple Mount, the Umayyad Mosque, and most Arab countries. He visited many European countries, including Germany in 1978.
He was chosen as the vice president of the Readers Syndicate when the syndicate was established in 1984.
Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna died on July 20, 1985 AD. He was buried in his mausoleum attached to his mosque in his village, Shubra Bas.
